Madison, Wisconsin and the Madison Unicyclists have been chosen to host the Unicycling Society of America’s 2011 North American Unicycling Convention and Championships from July 23 – 30. Beginner to expert riders are encouraged to participate in the convention activities and competitions. Registration for NAUCC 2011 will open soon, check back for updates.
NAUCC 2011 riding workshops and registration will begin at 10am on Saturday, July 23 at the Goodman Community Center. The official opening event fun parade will start at 1pm, riding the 8 blocks to Yahara Place Park for the 2pm criterium race. Later in the afternoon, the Flatland competition will be held at the Goodman Center and the trials course will be open for practice. Trials practice and competitions are scheduled all day Sunday followed by the Unicycling Society of America’s annual meeting.
Events on Monday-Thursday will be held at Monona Grove High School and include artistic competitions (Monday and Wednesday), hockey and basketball (Tuesday), and track (Thursday). Mountain unicycling competitions are scheduled for Friday (along with a fun picnic and swim at Lake Kegonsa). A 10K race from Vilas Park around Lake Wingra and through the beautiful Arboretum is planned for Saturday morning, followed by the Street competition and final party at the Goodman Community Center. Routes for the Marathon (Monday morning) and Time Trial (Wednesday afternoon) distance races are being finalized.
